You are probably already acquainted with some of these famous heroes. Do you remember Beowulf, Sigurd, and Roland?

But as soon as the liquid met Sigurd's tongue, he understood the chatter of the surrounding birds.

但当液体一接触到西格德的舌头，他便听懂了周围鸟儿叽叽喳喳的叫声。

Then Sigurd laughed aloud in his joy, for he knew that he had the strongest sword in the world.

这时西格德高兴得大笑起来，因为他知道自己有世界上最坚韧的剑。

The next day Sigurd went to King Alf and told him that he was about to start on a journey.

第二天，西格尔德去拜见阿尔夫国王，告诉国王他要出发了。

After the battle, Alfsol's  body was found by Sigurd's men.

战斗结束后，阿尔夫索尔的尸体被西格德的手下发现。

" How shall I find the castle of the princess? " thought Sigurd.

“我怎么才能找到公主的城堡呢? ”西格德想。

The fourth said, " A beautiful princess lies asleep in a castle. She will not awake until Sigurd comes."

“一位美丽的公主躺在城堡里睡觉，西格德来了她才会醒过来。”

The fifth said, " If Sigurd wishes to save the princess, he must go through the wall of fire."

“如果西格德想救公主，就必须穿过火墙。”

Then Sigurd thought, " I will get the helmet and the armor, and I will save the princess."

“我去拿头盔和盔甲，救出公主。”

Sigurd found there, too, the helmet and the armor which the bird had said he would find.

西格德还找到了那只鸟说的头盔和盔甲。

" Tell me your name, Princess, " said Sigurd.

“告诉我你的名字，公主。”西格德说。

Sigurd went joyously forward until night came on; then he stopped and lay down to rest.

西格德兴高采烈地向前走去，从天亮走到天黑，然后停下躺着休息。

Sigurd took the sword in his hand, and lifting it high in the air, brought it down upon the anvil with all his strength.

西格德手里拿着剑，高高地举在空中，用尽全身的力气举到铁砧。

" Take whatever horse you wish, Sigurd, " said King Alf, kindly.

“想要什么马就拿吧，西格德，”阿尔夫国王和蔼地说。

So Sigurd saved the princess, and when people heard what he had done, there was great joy.

于是西格德救出了公主，大家听到西格德所做的一切后，都非常开心。

" What do you wish, Sigurd? " asked the stranger.

“你想要什么，西格德? ”陌生人问道。

Early next morning Sigurd went out to the meadow where the horses were grazing.

第二天一早，西格德来到草地上，马儿正在吃草。

Then people began to read them. Three of the greatest of these world heroes are Beowulf, Sigurd, and Roland.

然后供人们阅读。世界上最伟大的三位英雄是贝奥武夫、西格德和罗兰。

Many hours they traveled. The light grew brighter and brighter until Sigurd could see that it was high on a mountain.

他们走了很久。光线越来越亮，西格德看到这光亮来自高山上。

Then Sigurd leaped from his steed and entered.

接着西格德从马上跳下来，走了进去。
