I feel like it's irresponsible not to call this kind of hate what it is and to address it head-on.

Do you often make excuses for other people's behavior, like telling yourself that they didn't mean to insult you or that they were just joking, rather than addressing the issue head-on?

That's the positive side of the narrative, so it's both addressing negative points head on and then trying to build their own narrative, both of which are working to some extent, but not completely.

And that means that we have to stand up tall when there's gunfire, we have to go address the threat head-on, we have to become the stop-the-barrier between that threat whether it's a sharp edged weapon, a gun, doesn't matter.
